Alliance Institute and MIT Global Scale Network Co-host AI and Supply Chain Seminar in Beijing

2025-08-07

BEIJING – On August 7, Alliance Institute, in collaboration with the MIT Global Scale Network, successfully hosted the "Artificial Intelligence and Supply Chain Reshaping: Trends and Industrial Implementation Seminar" at the Goldwind Technology Campus in Yizhuang, Beijing. Dr. Elenna R. Dugundji, a Research Scientist at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), delivered a keynote address titled "Artificial Intelligence and Supply Chain Reshaping."

Dr. Dugundji, who specializes in supply chain network analysis and operational process optimization, shared her extensive expertise in applying machine learning to demand forecasting and supply chain algorithms. She outlined MIT's latest research and industrial practices regarding the deep integration of AI and supply chains, focusing on the application of artificial intelligence, machine learning, and predictive analytics in network analysis, process optimization, and cost management.

During the session, Dr. Dugundji engaged in in-depth discussions with supply chain leaders from Goldwind Technology. Key topics included AI-enabled inventory optimization, transportation and delivery, supply chain system construction, port traffic prediction, and assessments of overseas logistics accessibility.

Distinguished attendees included the Dean of Alliance Institute; Ye Jiqiang, Deputy General Manager of Goldwind's Wind Power Industry Group and General Manager of the Supply Chain Center; Zhao Tao, Head of Supply Chain Management at Goldwind Group; and Wang Jianzhuang, Head of the Digitalization Department at China Electric Construction (CEC).

The seminar highlighted the strengths of both institutions. As the birthplace of artificial intelligence and home to the world's top-ranked supply chain management program—which has held the number one global spot for eight consecutive years—MIT launched its inaugural "Artificial Intelligence and Supply Chain" training program in 2024. The program attracted students from diverse backgrounds, including computer science, engineering, and management, who progressed from foundational concepts to advanced applications, delivering high-level project results and presenting findings at the prestigious Transportation Research Board (TRB) conference.

Goldwind Technology, a global leader in wind power equipment research and manufacturing, was also highlighted for its industry dominance. The company has ranked first in China for domestic newly installed wind power capacity for 14 consecutive years and first globally for international newly installed capacity for three consecutive years, providing world-leading integrated wind power solutions.

During the Q&A session, Dr. Dugundji addressed questions from business representatives on how AI can help enterprises solve challenges in logistics, procurement, and inventory. Following the forum, facilitated by Zhao Tao and the Supply Chain Management Department at Goldwind Technology, participants toured Goldwind's facilities, gaining firsthand insight into the operations of this industry-leading enterprise.
