On July 28th, the "Inside Listed Companies" series of Alliance Institute's "China Digital Energy Entrepreneurs" program continued with momentum. As the first stop of the day's tour, participants visited BYD (002594), the global leader in new energy vehicles, embarking on an in-depth benchmarking journey to this industry pioneer.
In the morning, the Digital Energy Entrepreneurs arrived at BYD for an in-depth face-to-face exchange with company experts, gaining a comprehensive understanding of BYD's extraordinary journey—from a battery manufacturer to the world's leading new energy vehicle giant.
Founded in 1995, BYD started with the manufacturing of rechargeable batteries and entered the automotive industry in 2003. Through an unwavering commitment to technological innovation, BYD has gradually built a complete ecosystem spanning four major sectors: automobiles, rail transit, new energy, and electronics. The participants listened attentively as BYD experts shared breakthrough progress in core technology areas such as the Blade Battery, DM-i Super Hybrid Technology, and the e-Platform 3.0, deeply feeling the company's development philosophy: "Technology is King, Innovation is the Foundation."

The participants then toured the BYD exhibition hall, which showcases a complete timeline of evolution—from early battery products to the latest new energy vehicles—vividly demonstrating the magnificent transformation from "Made in China" to "Created in China."
Most striking is BYD's comprehensive layout in core technology fields. From self-developed IGBT chips to the exceptional safety performance of the Blade Battery, and then to silicon carbide power devices enabling fast charging—each technological breakthrough showcases the innovative prowess of Chinese enterprises. The participants paused to watch the nail penetration test demonstration. When they witnessed the Blade Battery's outstanding performance—no fire, no smoke, and a surface temperature of only 30-60℃ after penetration—they couldn't help but marvel at the achievement.
In the vehicle display area, flagship models such as the BYD Han, Tang, and Seal captured the participants' attention. From exterior design to intelligent cabins, from the three-electric system to intelligent driving, every detail reflects the leapfrog progress of China's automotive industry. One participant remarked, "Ten years ago, when we talked about the automotive industry, we always mentioned German and Japanese brands. Today at BYD, we see that Chinese brands have already taken their place at the center of the global stage."
Through detailed explanations from experts, the participants learned that BYD is the only company in the world to master the core technologies of the entire new energy vehicle industrial chain—including batteries, motors, electronic controls, and automotive-grade semiconductors. To date, BYD has invested over 100 billion RMB cumulatively in R&D, employs nearly 70,000 technical R&D personnel, and has filed over 40,000 patent applications worldwide.
It is this long-term commitment to technology research and development that has enabled BYD to maintain its leading position in fierce market competition. In 2022, BYD topped global new energy vehicle sales with over 1.86 million units sold. In the first half of 2023, this momentum continued, demonstrating strong development potential.
This visit to BYD gave participants a profound realization: in the changing tides of the times, only by mastering core technologies and insisting on independent innovation can enterprises achieve long-term stability and sustainable development in fierce market competition. BYD's growth trajectory is a vivid reflection of the transformation from "Made in China" to "Created in China."
For participants from the energy industry, BYD's exploration and practice in the new energy field also provide valuable references for the digital transformation and innovative development of the energy sector. From power batteries to energy storage systems, from photovoltaic power generation to the energy internet—the integration of energy and automobiles is creating ever more possibilities.
Technology and innovation are the driving forces that sustain enterprise vitality. The visit to BYD was not only a learning journey to a benchmark enterprise but also a deep dialogue that connected resources and sparked new ideas. The participants departed with rich insights and reflections, looking forward to transforming these valuable experiences into driving forces for their own enterprises.
